Rollovers in Flash
To create a Rollover button in flash, draw a rectangle and select it..
Click on the key, F8 or select menu item “Modify” ->”Convert to Symbol”.
Tick on the Button behaviour in the ensuing dialog box and put in a name for our button.
Click OK.
+ Double click on our button and it will open up in the editing window.
In the timeline window, you will see 4 frame names - Up, Over, Down, Hit.
Up - means when the mouse is not over the button.
Over - when the mouse is hovering over the button.
Down - is the state when the mouse clicks on the button.
Hit - the area where the button will be active.
Click on the first frame , layer 1, (the black area ) and hit key F6 to make another keyframe. Hit F6 2 more times and you should have 4 keyframes..
Here is the first normal state of the button.
Click on the Over keyframe. You can change the colour of the rectangle so that when the user rolls over the button the colour of the button will change.
Fill the rectangle with another colour.
To add text to our button create another layer, by clicking on the Add Layer icon.
Click in the up frame, layer 2. Click on the Text tool and Write your button text on layer 2.
Click on layer 2, frame 1(up) and hit the F6 key 3 times to create 3 keyframes.
Click on the Over frame, layer 2 and select the text on that layer and change the colour of the text of that frame.
You can do the same for the Down frame, but I don’t think it is necessary as the user will usually never see it anyway.
Click on the Scene 1 button to take yourself back to the main stage.
Test your button by hitting keys Control + Enter.
Your rollover is now created.
To finish your button, click on the button.
